Alexandra’s men unite for relationship breakthrough

Alex's men came together to discuss the importance of taking responsibility for their actions and behaviours in relationships.

The need for men to recognise that they contribute to the problems in their relationships was discussed during the Men’s Conference held at Brian Car Wash on July 14.

The event organised by Pastor Andrew Tshikota from Lufunoni Family Centre, in partnership with the Army of Worship Bible Church and Alex FM, focused on changing men’s perspectives about women and their partners, encouraging them to take responsibility for their actions and behaviours.

Tshikota said one of the most impactful moments of the conference came when a gentleman shared a testimony about how his life had changed since attending a previous programme.

“This gentleman recounted how he used to fight with his partner and had asked her to leave the house. However, after attending the programme, he learned how to communicate effectively and brought peace back into his home.

“We also discussed sensitive topics such as what do I do if my wife says I’m tired (bedroom matters) and if a man knows me and proposes to my wife or girlfriend, what must I do?

“With some of the attendees sharing that they had been cheated on and had lost all trust in women, others had stopped working night shifts, or left their jobs, because they wanted to protect their women.”

Tshikota said the conference provided a platform for men to share their experiences and receive guidance from one another.

“The conference also offered referrals to Families South Africa (Famsa) for counselling services and connections with pastors who could provide spiritual support.”

Tshikota expressed his gratitude for the large turnout and emphasised that if men are responsible, they will not be discussing issues like rape cases and gender-based violence.
