Phalaza de Deejay turns up the heat with Sony music deal

Sony Music cranks up the volume on a rising star as Phalaza de Deejay leaps the mainstream, bringing his unique style and industry grit to the forefront of the music scene.

Ofentse Ntokozo Nkosi, famously known as Phalaza de Deejay, is set to take his music to new heights with a recording deal with Sony Music, which has since signed as his new record label.

Born in Alexandra and raised in Boksburg, this young producer has made a significant impact with his debut album, Mfana Kasi and tracks like Impilo and Makwande.

His unique style has earned him industry acclaim, charting independently on both Spotify and Apple Music.

Despite his success, Phalaza de Deejay remains humble and focused on his goals. He attributes his love for music to his early years where he would spend hours learning about the industry and how music is made.

“I’ve always loved music, from a young age, and wanted to learn as much as possible about the industry, especially how music is made.

“I believe that nobody owes you anything in the music industry. It’s a case of, if you want something, you must work for it and get it done yourself,” Phalaza de Deejay said.

Phalaza de Deejay has already collaborated with talented artists like Tswalo, De Bablyy, Deep Kvy, and Ghobza21, showcasing his versatility and musical prowess.

His latest hit 1720, featuring DJ Mhlengi, further solidifies his status as a rising star on the music scene.

Phalaza de Deejay said, growing up he was inspired by well-known musicians in the music industry, Kabza De Small and Kelvin Momo.

“Their music is something I can relate to and motivates me to keep pushing forward. These two musicians are making good music that people love, and it’s something that I aspire to do,” Phalaza de Deejay said.

He added that what keeps him moving, regardless of the circumstances, is his love for music and the reason why he started making music.

Phalaza de Deejay credits the Academy of Sound Engineering with playing a crucial role in his musical journey.

“I’m grateful for the Academy of Sound Engineering, it’s been instrumental in my musical journey. They’ve taught me about the music business and given me access to the best studios in the country,” he said.
