Silvers Spears seeks players to bolster its squad

Silver Spears Ladies FC blind coach Dumisani Ntombela dreams of taking his side to the premier division of women's football to become the first blind coach in that league.

The blind coach and founder of Silver Spears Ladies FC Dumisani Ntombela is seeking talented players from Alexandra to join his squad ahead of the upcoming season of the Hollywoodbets Ekurhuleni Women’s Regional League.

Ntombela is famously known as the Blind Coach after winning the women’s section of the Map Games of 2015. He received rave reviews after he thumped teams coached by his sighted counterparts. He said he would hold trials for his team on January 27 and urged interested players to bring their ‘shooting boots’.

The Kathorus-based side will hold the trials at the Vosloorus Stadium at 08:00 and Ntombela urged interested players to bring along with them two ID photos of themselves and a copy of their birth certificate or ID.
The Blind Coach said they will select a maximum of 30 players that he hopes will bolster the squad and make it a formidable force to be reckoned with in women’s football.

Ntombela, who dreams of taking his team to the Hollywoodbets Super League, the premier league in women’s football, also wants to be the first blind coach to coach a team on the biggest stage of women’s football.

“I did the unthinkable before by winning the Map Games in Alexandra in 2015 when no one gave me a chance. I told the Map Games founder Maimane Phiri when I registered my team for the competition that I was going to win the trophy, and I did.
“Nothing will stop me from guiding my team to the premier division of women’s football to make history by becoming the first blind coach in that league,” a confident Ntombela told Alex News.

Ntombela said those selected will be informed shortly after the trials and will be required to pay a once-off registration fee of R400 no later than February 7 which will cover items such as tracksuits, gold T-shirts and shorts, transport for all training sessions and games for the whole league season, while refreshments will be provided during every game.
