A ‘Kilimanjaro’ to climb for Dondol Stars in Nedbank Cup quarterfinals

Dondol Stars’ Alex co-coach Vincent Rammoni likens playing Orlando Pirates to summiting Mount Kilimanjaro and believes those that make it will treasure the moment for life.

Giant-killing ABC Motsepe League side Dondol Stars has a ‘Kilimanjaro’ mountain to climb when it takes on Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup quarterfinals on a date yet to be confirmed.

The Premier Soccer League has indicated that it will confirm the dates, venues and times of the quarterfinal matches once they have met with the sponsors, Nedbank.

Dondol was the first team to come out of the hat in the draw which was conducted at the SuperSport Studio 6 on March 13, with the top three sides of the league Mamelodi Sundowns, the Bucs and Kaizer Chiefs avoiding each other.

Speaking after the draw, Alex’s man of the moment Vincent ‘Young Master’ Rammoni, who is co-coach of the giant slayers along with Khuliso Rashamuse, said the team got to where they were now in the Nedbank Cup through hard work both on and off the field.

“We respect Pirates for its rich history and the fact that it is one of the best sides in the premiership but that doesn’t mean we will be going to the game like sheep to the slaughter. We’re going to give it our best shot as we have done with other teams we have played so far.

“Our players will walk into the field as they did with SuperSport and AmaZulu. We will go there to play the fixture, play our normal game, and maybe make changes to reinforce where it’s broken. We’re not giant killers but a bunch of humble people who are willing to learn with every game,” Rammoni said.

The Young Master said the task of taking on Pirates was quite daunting. “It will be more like climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and it’s not everyone that makes it to the summit but those that do will treasure the moment for life.”
The other fixtures of the draw are as follows:

Stellenbosch versus Mamelodi Sundowns

Royal AM versus Kaizer Chiefs

Chippa United versus Sekhukhune.
