Tori Amos to head back to SA

JOBURG - Eight-time Grammy Award nominee Tori Amos will return to South Africa as part of a world tour in support of her latest album, Unrepentant Geraldines.

Amos will perform two concerts in Johannesburg and two in Cape Town in June.

Known for hits such as Crucify, Cornflake Girl and Professional Widow, Amos has toured relentlessly since her 1991 breakthrough album, Little Earthquakes.

Amos was voted as one of the best live performers of all time by Rolling Stone magazine.

“The release of Unrepentant Geraldines, her 14th studio album, will be supported by an extensive world tour, starting on 7 May in Dublin, and will include shows at London’s Royal Albert Hall, and in Berlin, Paris, Amsterdam, Moscow, Warsaw, Johannesburg and Cape Town,” said promoter Charl van Heyningen.

“Thereafter Amos will tour major cities across the USA.”

Van Heyningen said he was delighted that Amos included South Africa in her latest world tour, and that he was pleased to welcome her back.

Amos performed five concerts in South Africa in 2011.

She has sold more than 12 million albums, has played more than a thousand concerts, and has won numerous awards.

A noted humanitarian, Amos is also the co-founder of RAINN (Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network), the USA’s largest anti-sexual assault organisation.

Amos will perform on 26 and 27 June at the Teatro theatre, Montecasino.
