A Spring Day celebration turns violent at Alexandra High School
Learners at Alexandra High School in Alexandra set out to mark Spring Day on September 1 but that celebration turned into mayhem.
A Spring Day celebration on September 1 at Alexandra High School turned into mayhem when some learners damaged fire extinguishers, destroyed furniture and disrupted schooling.
Gauteng Department of Education spokesperson Steve Mabona confirmed the incident.
“Such behaviour and ill-discipline from learners will not be tolerated in our schools,” Mabona said, adding that an investigation was immediately launched to identify the culprits.
Mabona said a disciplinary committee would determine what went wrong and those responsible would face the music.
