Neighbour throws bricks at woman and children in their home

ALEXANDRA - A woman and her children had to hide behind a fridge from an enraged neighbour who was raining bricks into her house.

Alex police spokesperson Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela said the 43-year-old woman heard her neighbour calling her name and shouting insults. Before she could go out to find out what was wrong, bricks started to be thrown into her house.

She then huddled together with her children and they hid behind the fridge. Several bricks landed inside the house and 12 window panes were damaged.

The woman estimated the cost to be in the region of R1 000. “Up until now, I don’t know what enraged my neighbour to want to kill me and damage my house,” the woman said.

Maphakela said the neighbour had since been arrested and will appear in the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court on a charge of malicious damage to property.
