Matriculants offered chance to start careers

Devices such as laptops, smartphones, and iPads from popular brands will be available on the FNB App.

Alex matriculants who did not get to go to tertiary institutions but wish to start and advance their careers of choice can take advantage of an FNB online study offering.

This follows a partnership between the bank and a US-based online study platform, Udemy, that allows students to study anytime and anywhere.

According to the bank’s CEO Jacques Celliers, Udemy is part of the bank’s partnership with various other stakeholders in which the bank seeks to help its customers with lifestyle issues beyond banking.

Celliers said Udemy had curated a world-class library of 400 online learning and self-development courses for FNB and RMB Private Bank customers to take advantage of and improve their careers and employability in the market.

“Those who may not be current customers of the bank can open an account or piggyback on their relatives for various courses in finance, IT, marketing, personal development, teaching and many more.

“All they need to do is enrol and only pay an R50 activation fee on enrollment and off they fly with their online study and acquire in-demand courses to help their career developments,” he said at the launch of the programme.

Once the e-learners come on board, Celliers said those without laptops could latch onto another offering called the FNB Connect ‘Hero Device Deals’ that seeks to enable the affordability of laptops and stay connected for less.

“These devices such as laptops, smartphones and iPads from popular brands such as Apple, Samsung and Lenovo will be available on the FNB app. The 24-month deals will come in cheaper than purchasing listed devices and will include data, airtime and SMSes.”
