Delivery driver runs away after being robbed and hijacked on 8th Avenue

ALEX – The value of the parcel taken is R15 000.

A delivery driver was driving a company car, a Chevrolet Utility on 8th Avenue on March 10 at about 12:10 when he stopped and asked for the address of a client.

According to the Alexandra Police Station spokesperson Simphiwe Mbatha, when the driver went back to his vehicle, three men accosted him with firearms.

“The complainant said that he did not ask who they were or what they were doing, he just ran away. The suspects took his cellphones and jumped into his vehicle and drove away with it,” said Mbatha.

Mbatha added that the value of the parcel taken was R15 000.

The vehicle was recovered at Helen Joseph Women’s Hostel in 4th Avenue, Alexandra by a tracking company.
