Daily Bread non-profit organisation hosts an open market to raise funds

FOURWAYS– Chairperson of the non-profit organisation said they will continue feeding the poor despite challenges and setbacks.

Local non-profit organisation Daily Bread hosted its monthly open market at Leaping Frog Shopping Centre in Fourways on February 26.

The organisation feeds more than 2 000 people from disadvantaged communities such as Alexandra and Msawawa informal settlement every week and provides free skills development programmes to local youngsters.

Chairperson of the organisation Charmaine McGinley said their monthly open market helped them to raise funds to buy food for the needy.

“We are a non-profit organisation which solely depends on donations to provide services to the people. Open markets help us raise funds to buy food to feed the needy and vulnerable people in different places that we serve in and around Region E.”

She urged local community members and the business community to support the work that they did to help the poor.

“The number of people who need our help has grown since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. We need more support from those who can, help those in need. We want to thank all our sponsors for their support and donations that have kept us going until this day.”
