Cream of the crop
ALEXANDRA - Seven players from the local association have been included in the squad to play in the Safa Johannesburg Future Champions tournament.
The squad will compete in the Future Champions tournament on 1 March.
This was announced by Alexandra Northrand Local Football Association technical director Mxolisi Mngomezulu, who has been appointed to coach the squad under the guidance of regional technical director…. Koert.
“As the local football association we are delighted to be fully represented at this tournament,” Mngomezulu said. “The selection of seven of our players just shows how far we are as an association in terms of delivering football development in our community.”
Trials for the tournament were held at the University of Johannesburg campus in Auckland Park. All the local football associations were represented.
Mngomezulu believed that having so many players being selected for the squad could only be attributed to the sterling work done by the coaches in developing these boys.
“As the Alexandra football technical director, I can only reflect on the continuous local coaches development and our Monday Coaches Workshops which have become the cornerstone of our learning and sharing platform,” he added.
