#OperationFiyela cleans Pan of foreign vendors in Alex

ALEX – One member said they will not set them alight as per agreement with the police who indicated they would collect them for storage purposes until the owners claim them.

The Pan Africa Square that houses the Pan Africa Shopping Centre was abuzz with angry unemployed Alexandrians that are cleaning the area of all foreign benders.

SAPS members and Metro police were out in full force but urged the #OperationFiyela members to go about their campaign peacefully and not harm anyone or instigate violence.

Fiyela members collected all the belongings of benders such as crates, boards, chairs and tables and pulled them up in the streets waiting to be collected by police to store them wherever they will store them.

One member said they will not set them alight as per agreement with the police who indicated they would collect them for storage purposes until the owners claim them.

One of the foreign vendors who was busy locking up her stall told Alex News the police had ordered them to close shop as Fiyela members were coming and there could be trouble.
