Tefo takes occupancy of new offices at Altrek

ALEXANDRA – Tefo says he listened and delivered on the people’s request that he move closer to them.

Ward 105 councillor Tefo Raphadu has moved out of the Thusong Multipurpose Centre at the corner of 8th Avenue and Alfred Nzo Street.

He has taken occupancy of brand-spanking-new offices at Altrek Sports Facility in the East Bank section of Alexandra to be closer to his people in the ward.

Altrek is a City of Johannesburg sporting facility that houses playing fields for soccer, netball, basketball and tennis and is also home to the Cricket Oval.

“When I was doing the door-to-door campaigning for the recent Local Government Election, people told me I was far away from them at the Thusong centre and they asked me to find an office within the ward.

“I listened and delivered on the request,” he said, adding that he was grateful to the City of Johannesburg for allowing him to open the office in the ward which he said made real sense in terms of service delivery.

Raphadu said he realised the need and urgency to move into the ward ‘especially after considering that ward residents had to pay much more than R20 to access me at Thusong, sometimes for something as small as a mere confirmation of a place of residency’.

He said Altrek was central for the entire ward and people in need of services could just walk in and out and back to their homes. “It’s a permanent office with 08:00 to 16:00 operational times every day, and on the weekend I can only host scheduled meetings.”
