Ensuring safe trips to and from school

JOBURG – Always pay attention to what’s happening in front and around you when driving.

With schools reopening on January 12, parents, guardians and others will be responsible for taking school learners to and from school.

Beagle Watch Armed Response provided the following tips to ensure that every trip is safe:

  • Stay alert and pay attention to everything happening around you, especially once you have arrived at your destination and at traffic stops
  • Be patient and courteous when driving and avoid starting or aggressively responding to road rage incidents
  • Maintain a safe following distance from the car ahead of you
  • Ignore people pointing out things on your car and only check it once at a safe location
  • Do not leave your vehicle unlocked, not even for a just a short while
  • Do not give strangers a lift under any circumstances.
