Hijacking leaves man without valuables worth R20 500

ALEX – The vehicle has a tracker. No one was injured and no shots were fired. 

Police detectives are investigating a hijacking that took place in Vasco on December 12.

According to Alex Police Station spokesperson Sergeant Simphiwe Mbatha, the incident happened around 12:40pm and the complainant alleged that he was driving an unknown woman who was seated in the back seat to a tavern in Marlboro.

“At corner 10th Avenue while he was about to turn right, two men approached him and pointed a firearm at him. He got out of the car, one of the suspects got into the passenger seat while the other got in the driver’s seat and drove off. The complainant tried to chase the car on foot but it soon disappeared from sight.”

Mbatha added that inside the car there was an iPhone 8, an HP laptop and an ID book with a total value of R20 500. The motor vehicle is valued at R260 000.
