Ward 75’s independent candidate is certain of victory

ALEXANDRA – Candidate councillor Nkele Galedzana urged young people to take advantage of those standing and support them by voting.

Ward 75’s independent councillor candidate, Nkele Galedzana, says she smells victory.

This follows her successful endeavour to assist those qualifying for special votes. She alleged two parties had tried to block some of her special votes supporters, yet the area manager for special votes dismissed this claim.

Galedzana spoke to the Alex News outside the Jesus Is The Answer Ministries voting station on 12th Avenue. She said she was a bit skeptical about the general turnout in this election as there were no long queues which had become a norm at voting stations in the township.

“A good number of our people are demoralised and prefer to stay home rather than come out and vote, but despite that, I am confident I will prevail come this time tomorrow,” she said.

She said she would do another round of pushing people, especially the elderly and pensioners. “I have already sent messages to the youth calling on [them] to come and ensure a victory for a young person in the ward which translates to victory for them and all the people of the ward,” she said.

“Young people have been complaining that there are no young people in the candidate lists of various parties. They must now take advantage of those standing and support them.”
