Jilted lover beats up girlfriend

A jilted lover allegedly punched his former girlfriend after she broke up with him.

The Alex man, whose age and name has not been disclosed by the police, has been arrested and will be charged with assault with the intention to cause grievous bodily harm. He will appear at the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court soon.

According to police spokesperson Warrant Officer Mose Maphakela, the victim was at her home at about 9.30pm when her boyfriend arrived. An argument ensued when the ex-girlfriend ordered him to leave as she no longer loved him.

The man is then alleged to have punched his former girlfriend several times in the face and other parts of her body. The victim is said to have sustained a cut on her right arm and was treated at the Alex Clinic.
