Premier Soccer League CEO, Brand de Villiers has wished the two South African clubs involved in Confederation African Football continental club games over the weekend the best of luck.

Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United will kick-off their continental campaigns when they play in the Champions League and Confederations Cup respectively this weekend. Chiefs, the reigning Absa Premiership champions, will host Black Africa at the FNB Stadium on Saturday night. Kick-off is at 8pm.

SuperSport United will also be at home against Gaborone United at the Lucas Moripe Stadium. Kick-off is at 8.15am.

“This weekend is very important not only for Chiefs and United but for the league,” said De Villiers. “The two clubs do not just represent their badge but they carry the South African flag and the hopes of the entire country. On behalf of the league, I would like to wish both the two teams the best of luck.

“I believe last year revived the appetite and hunger of many South African clubs for continental glory. More than ever before, we all know the importance of excelling at this level as a country. Orlando Pirates went to the finals of the Champions League this year. We have to aim for a step further.

“It is therefore important for the football loving public to go in numbers and back our teams as we make yet another attempt to conquer continental club football.”
