Majola sisters contribute to society in a meaningful way

ALEXANDRA – The cold weather makes people more susceptible to Covid-19, says leader of Lion of Judah NPO.

Lion of Judah NPO, one of many Alex local non-profit organisations, held a soup and clothing drive to support the less fortunate residents of the community.

Warm jerseys and blankets were distributed on June 26 to grateful residents on Alexandra’s 8th Avenue.

The Lion of Judah was started by Zandile Majola, who has been working closely with her sister Nombulelo Majola, who runs her own non-profit organisation, Pro Labore Dei (for the work of God), that also works for the community.

Zandile said the purpose of handing out the items was to reduce the number of people who might contract the coronavirus. “The cold weather makes people more susceptible to Covid-19. We are told by doctors that cold weather increases the chances of the virus spreading.

“We thought that since the organisation gives back to the community, why not solicit donations from community members so that we can give these items to the less fortunate.”

The Alex organisations such as Ratang Bana NPO, which is part of the Alex NGO foundation, played a pivotal role in helping to make the event a success, according to Zandile.

Lion of Judah also keeps kids occupied after school, thanks to the activities it arranges to keep them off the streets.

In light of the current Covid situation, Nombulelo argued that it was a perfect time to donate warm clothes to the less fortunate.
