Bolt driver hijacked in Alex

ALEXANDRA – Police are in search of three armed suspects allegedly involved in a carjacking.

A carjacking case has been opened at the Alexandra Police Station.

The complainant, who is a Bolt driver, alleged that he was at Lombardy on 11 April, when he received a call requesting transport from Bolt.

“He proceeded to Bramley’s Vanderlyn Street, where he found three unknown males, and the one who requested the vehicle introduced himself as Thabiso Christian,” said Alex SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Simphiwe Mbatha.

“He told them he can’t load three of them but they told him not to worry. He then took them to 8th Avenue in Alexandra as requested and he was given directions, until at Phase 1 where he was ordered to stop.”

They drove off in his blue Toyota Corolla Prestige with registration HD 93HP GP that is worth R180 000. They also took the sum of R300 cash which was in the vehicle.

The vehicle has not been recovered and the suspects, who can be identified, are still at large and investigations are ongoing, Mbatha said.
