KFC adds hope to Alex children

ALEXANDRA -– Children who benefit from the KFC Add Hope food relief scheme can expect 'bigger things' during Hunger Month in October as part of KFC's 50th-anniversary celebrations.

Alex children of NPO Afrika Tikkun based at Phuthaditjaba-Qoqisizwe Centre in 16th Avenue are among the more than 150 000 children in the country that are being fed every day by the KFC Add Hope feeding scheme.

This was disclosed by KFC South Africa marketing director Suhayl Limbada during a celebration to mark the 50th anniversary of the arrival of the brand in South Africa and the opening of the first store of chicken fast food outlet in Orange Grove, Johannesburg in 1971.

Limbada said he had been constantly asked by people where the R2 donation by customers that bought meals at their outlets went to.

“I can safely assure our customers that the money is put to good use, as it feeds more than 150 000 children across the country every day through our programme, Add Hope.

“Generosity is at the heart of our brand and every cent of your R2 donation goes towards feeding these children through our NPO partners across the country. As part of our 50th celebration in South Africa, both the children and our paying customers can expect big things to come later in the year that will mark our half-a-century of existence in this country, more so during Hunger Month in October,” Limbada added.
