Alex’s top matrics have their say

ALEXANDRA - Top performing pupils make their intentions known about their future ambitions as to what they intend doing and studying after Matric.

Most Alex matrics were over the moon after receiving their results on Tuesday morning. This was after they waited for weeks to find out how they had performed in 2013. Our reporter, Siyathemba Ben, spoke to some of them to find out how they feel and what their next chapter is.

Malebo Letsoalo (18), Realogile High School: “I am happy I don’t even know how to feel or what to say. I got a distinction for Life Sciences and I want to study medicine or chemical engineering this year.”

Darlington Chinamosa (19), Realogile High School: “I feel excited and happy. I feel like shouting and screaming because I am genuinely over the moon. I did much better than I expected and I am proud of how far I have come. I’ll be studying mechanical engineering at the Vaal University of Technology.”

Nokuthula Ndima (19), Realogile High School: “I’m happy but I feel I could have done better, especially in maths. And I could have gotten a distinction in other subjects but didn’t. I think I will be upgrading my marks this year. I want to study economics or international communications.”

Thumeka Mabayi of KwaBhekilanga High School: “I am very happy with my results. I got a distinction in isiXhosa. I’ll be studying teaching at the University of Johannesburg. I really feel that teaching is what I am meant to do because I want to help others and make a difference.”
