Voice of the Speechless online benefit concert

JOBURG – A special online benefit concert is being held on 13 December in aid of special-needs children.

The year 2020 has opened up the hearts of many, especially, during the coronavirus pandemic. With many children in need and parents too, local NPO Brain Child Fund (BCF) is hosting an online benefit concert to raise funds for their latest campaign, Voice of the Speechless (VOS).

Ziya Viljoen, a South African musician, composer, songwriter and co-founder of the Brain Child Fund along with her husband, saw the need for this after having a conversation with a mother who is part of the BCF network.

“I asked how they were doing during the lockdown. Her response was that if this was lockdown, they were permanently in it. Their son has compromised immunity, which essentially means that they cannot go anywhere as he is very fragile,” said Viljoen.

With three special-needs children herself, her latest single, Lonely Together which was released during the lockdown, resonated with a number of parents. Viljoen described the concert as a celebration of life – it will take place on 13 December.

“It’s dedicated to the special-needs community that VOS and BCF support, a beautiful concert which will take place on Sunday night at 8pm.”

Well-known actors/filmmakers Anel and James Alexander will be the hosts of the show all the way from their Hollywood home!

Local artists like Rubber Duc, Nathan Smith, Ziya, Christiaan Baartman, Sincerely Anne, Petronel Baard, Brad + Nicole (from the USA) and Stefan Jansen will all be in attendance!

“They gave up their time, special songs and talent to support this worthy cause. This is definitely a show not to be missed!”

The show will start at 8pm SAST and 1pm EDT and tickets are available from R75 on https://go.raindust.co/vos.
