Alex youngsters urged to focus and never give up on their dreams

ALEXANDRA – South African influencers motivated youngsters at Phuthaditjhaba Centre.

A group of South African influencers visited Alexandra’s Phuthaditjhaba Centre to give an injection of hope to local youngsters.

Among those who volunteered their time talking to local youngsters during Afrika Tikkun celebrities brand event were Mamelodi Sundowns captain Hlompho Kekana, radio and television presenter Penny Lebyane, rapper and television personality Tebogo ‘Proverb’ Thekisho, and actor and television presenter Maps Maponyane.

Marketing manager at Afrika Tikkun, Precious Nala said, “We host this event every year. We invite people from different walks of life to come and share their journey with young people who are part of our programmes. We want to implant positivity into the minds of our youth. “We invited the influencers to become part of developing and shaping the future of young people.”

Speaking to the young people who attended the event, Thekisho challenged young people to rise above the challenges they faced as they fight the battle to realise their dreams.
“The best way to reach your dreams and become the best is by knowing your industry. Be prepared for resistance and setbacks along your journey. You must use those painful experiences as a motivation for you to keep going,” Thekisho said.

Kekana commended Afrika Tikkun non-profit organisation for the good work they were doing in poor communities to nurture young talent.

“This is the best way of giving back to the community,” he said. “Our country should develop such an attitude toward empowering young people. I am what I am today because someone told me it is possible.
“Nurturing youngsters at a tender age like these ones whether in art, music or in sport goes a long way. Those of us who have made it must avail ourselves for days like this one to share our experiences to the next generation to carry on where we left off.”
