An Alexandra man has opened a statutory rape case against his 14-year-old daughter’s boyfriend at the Alexandra Police Station after discovering she was five months pregnant.
According to Alexandra Police Station spokesperson Sergeant Simphiwe Mbatha, the case was opened on 18 September after the father received a call from his daughter claiming she was being beaten up by her boyfriend.
“The father alleged that he received a call from his 14-year-old daughter who was crying and told him that her 20-year-old boyfriend was assaulting her,” Mbatha said. The father also found out that his daughter was pregnant.
He decided to open a case of statutory rape because his daughter was a minor, Mbatha added, and that the suspect was later arrested.
