Police investigate attempted murder in Alexandra
ALEXANDRA – The man was taken to a nearby hospital for observation under police guard.
Police are investigating an incident where an Alexandra community member was stabbed four times on 12 August.
Alexandra Police Station spokesperson Sergeant Simphiwe Mbatha explained that detectives attended to a complaint at a hostel in Alexandra. “On arrival, they found a 65-year old violent, mentally challenged man. The detectives called for backup but while they were waiting for backup, uncontrollable community members decided to apprehend the man. The mentally challenged person stabbed one of the community members with a knife four times on the belly and ribs,” explained Mbatha.
Mbatha said that the injured man was rushed to a nearby hospital. “The mentally challenged man was taken to [a nearby] hospital for observation under police guard,” said Mbatha.
A case docket was opened for further investigation.
