Early Christmas present for Dr Knak Primary School

ALEXANDRA - Dr Knak Primary School received carpets from Caxton Community newspapers' Northern Joburg branch.

Christmas came early for Dr Knak Primary School this year.

The school, which is one of the poorest primary schools in Alexandra, received carpets from the Joburg North branch of Caxton Commumity newspapers last Friday.

Deputy principal of the school, Rasiebe du Plessis said the donation was appreciated and will be very useful especially for their lower primary classes. “I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the company for this generous donation to our school. We really need these carpets especially during winter,” she said.

Du Plessis said during winter it became very difficult for the pupils because they have to sit on the floor during story time.

“We are really grateful.”

Norman Dawe, Joburg North Branch manager, said their building was currently undergoing renovations and it would have been a waste to throw the carpets away. “We had carpeting that could still be used,” he said. “Instead of throwing it away we decided to give it away. We can’t throw away things that can be re-used.”
