Mashabane does it for the poor

ALEXANDRA - More than 50 families will benefit from the charity cycling efforts of Alex resident Lebohang Mashabane in the Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge.

It took Lebohang Mashabane just over four hours to complete the Momentum 94.7km Cycle Challenge which took place over the weekend.

The 19-year-old University of Johannesburg Metallurgy Engineering student’s efforts will help feed 50 families in her community. “I am very proud of myself. It was a great and amazing experience and I would do it all over again. I feel good knowing that I am helping my community,” Mashabane said.

She said what made the cycle challenge fun was that there were people encouraging them and cheering them on. “They were pushing us to go forward and I managed to do it.”

Mashabane was part of the Afrika Tikkun Cycle stars. Afrika Tikkun is an organisation aimed at improving the lives of township children.
