Marema appeals for residents’ support to field workers

ALEXANDRA – Cooperate with field workers to save lives warns councillor Marema.

Alex residents have been urged to cooperate with field workers deployed to encourage them to comply with measures against the spread of the coronavirus for the entire lockdown period.

Ward 116 councillor Adolph Marema shared this message as some of the residents continue to loiter outside instead of remaining indoors while others do not comply with the required social distance and recommended health and hygiene standards.

Marema said that the 10 field workers are dedicated and on a mission to fight the virus which will be stopped only when all residents embrace the measures which are in their own interest. “Make their job easier and remain indoors, keep the recommended social distance and avoid gatherings.

“If we don’t, we will infect each other and all of us will die from the virus.”

Marema said the workers who committed themselves voluntarily will not harass anyone and should be respected as they fulfil a mission to save lives and stop the country from collapsing. The volunteers, just like many others deployed elsewhere countrywide, are part of the part of government’s effort to scale up awareness and compliance with measures to mitigate the spread of the virus.
