Parents will get a update on appeal outcomes and late registration

JOBURG – MEC for Education in Gauteng Panyaza Lesufi said the department is currently finalising all admissions appeals and responses should reach them by 14 January 2020.

The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) has officially begun operating on 6 January 2020 in preparation for the opening of schools on 15 January.

MEC for Education in Gauteng Panyaza Lesufi said they would like to inform parents that the department is currently finalising all admissions appeals and responses should reach them by the 14 January 2020.

Lesufi said, “We are pleased to announce that the late registration for Grade 1 and 8 admissions will officially open on Tuesday, 15 January 2020 and close on Friday, 24 January 2020. It is important to note that only schools with available spaces will be availed on the system during the late registration period.”

He added that placement at a school will only be confirmed once parents submit the required documents. There will be no objections and appeals as there are limited spaces.

“We are working tirelessly to finalise the outstanding appeals and responses to all those who appealed and wish to assure all parents that all learners will be placed accordingly. Parents must note that the outcome of the appeal is final.”

Parents who sent appeals to other government offices other than the office of MEC for Gauteng Education will not be responded to as the appeals process is clearly articulated in the regulations, Lesufi explained.

“It must be reiterated that only schools with available space will appear on the admissions application system.”
