Balfour Park FC celebrates with parents
BALFOUR PARK – Scores of parents and children converged at the Balfour Park FC football fields on 24 October to celebrate their children's talent.
It was a hive of activity on 24 October when Balfour Park FC awarded some of its best players who performed exceptionally well during the season.
Activities kicked off with a football match between the club’s coaches and the parents of players.
The club’s chairperson Chantal Waisman said all their teams in the various divisions of the leagues performed exceptionally well throughout the season.
“This is my first year doing the award ceremony as the chairperson of the club and it’s been an absolute honour working with Highlands Park FC,” she said, referring to the help received from the professional outfit.
She said the players of Highlands had been very instrumental in influencing Balfour players to work harder and do better.
Balfour Park FC has 220 players who play in various divisions and compete in different leagues in different age groups.
“They are phenomenal little players, committed, determined and they let nothing get in their way. I am proud of them, no matter where they finish in the league and we can’t wait to do it again next year,” Waisman said.
She added that their U10 team won their division and the U8s were runners-up in their Cup final.
“The U12s had an awesome season as well, from being relegated last year in the super league to finishing fourth. It has just been a great season, we have done well.”
Some of the awards given to the best performing players and coaches were Players player of the season, Coaches player of the season, and Junior and Senior goalkeeper of the season.
The Team of the season was also given an award as well as the Coach of the season who was nominated by the coaches.
