A 22-year-old upcoming music artist has released his first Extended Play (EP) album titled Unembeza with a music video of one of its tracks called eGoli.

Sfisokuhle “Scima” Mkhwanaziwho explained that he started to get involved in music at the age of 12. “I can describe my music style as African Trap RnB. My two brothers, who used to own a recording studio in our home backyard, opened doors for me when I presented my work to them which, unfortunately, didn’t make it to the airwaves – but I never gave up on my dream.”

Born in KwaZulu-Natal, Scima moved to Johannesburg at a young age to realise his music dream. “In 2013, I ran away from home to stay with my mother in Johannesburg. The aim of my relocation was not because I missed my mother but I wanted to realise my dream to become of the country’s greatest musician. In the same year, 2013, I entered music competition sponsored by Trace and took the first place. That win served as a confirmation to me that I was in the right direction of my music journey.”

He explained that the main aim of his music is to inspire youngsters from poor backgrounds and encourage them not to give up in their dreams. “Through my music I seek to revive hope and inspire young people to believe in themselves and never give up on their dreams. In this project I worked with an award-winning music producer Wendy Newathwadzi and vocalist Nelisiwe Chabalala,” he said.

Mkhwanazi added that he has had the privilege to share the stage with music artists such as Caspper Nyovest, King Monada, and Kwesta to mention the few and has been nominated in this year’s Live Your Dream SA Awards in the best upcoming music artist category.
