Police commend residents on ‘Okae Molao’

ALEXANDRA – Cops laud residents' collaboration for recent crime-blitz success.

The Alexandra Police Station commended the residents’ collaboration in a recent crime-prevention blitz said to have netted many, including, wanted suspects.

Station spokesperson Captain Stephen Malatji said the whole-day exercise on 15 July and under operation, Okae Moalo (where is the law) was conducted through road blocks, stop-and-searches on the streets and raids, including in homes. “The intelligence-driven operation of our diverse police units cracked down massively on all elements of crime and contributory factors like substance abuse, drug dealing and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

“We netted many wanted suspects who have been evading the law and others for drug dealing and tickets were issued for non-compliance offences.”

Malatji attributed the success of the exercise to the residents and thanked them for allowing the officers to invade their privacy in their yards and homes. “It was indeed community policing in action. Thank you again compatriots and remember that together we can eradicate the scourge of crime.”

He vouched that police visibility would continue as a deterrent measure.
