Operation Okae Molao yields positive results

JOHANNESBURG – Operation Okae Molao aims to prioritise the safety of Gauteng residents.

Gauteng MEC for community safety Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane has applauded the people who continue to make Operation Okae Molao a success in the province.

The MEC said a lot of criminals are in jail due to the operation’s launch in February this year.

“Operation Okae Molao has yielded positive results since its inception,” said Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane.

“The operation has contributed positively towards the Gauteng Safety Strategy that is aimed at ensuring that our community feel safe and are safe. The integrated law enforcement operation continues to demonstrate our commitment in the fight against crime and road safety issues.”

The MEC said the operation prioritises the safety of Gauteng residents. “We shall continuously deploy personnel and resources to various areas in the province to address the crime and road safety challenges facing our communities. The safety of our citizens remains a priority.”

Gauteng Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Elias Mawela has also called on residents to work with the police to combat crime.

“We called upon the citizens to work with the police and share information and be patient when we stop them at the roadblocks. This is for them. Okae Molao is the people of Gauteng. We are giving you the law which you have been calling for,” said Mawela.

The operation focuses mainly on reckless drivers and those who commit other crimes.
