Brigadier Zoleka Khuboni leaves Alexandra Police Station in ‘good hands’

ALEXANDRA – 'I thank God who has been the pillar of my strength day after day during my tenure in Alex'.

Former Alexandra Police Station Commander Brigadier Zoleka Kuboni has urged the station’s management to continue working closely with the community to combat crime in the area.

Speaking at the farewell party held at the station, Kuboni, who has been at the helm of the station for two years, said the best recipe of fighting crime successfully was to work closely with community members. She said,”Working in Alexandra Police Station for the past two years was a blessing and a learning curve for me since I joined the police force three decades ago. I thank God who has been the pillar of my strength day after day.

“When they told me that I was going to work in Alex, I had mixed emotions because of the rumours and perceptions people have about this area, but I said to myself this was going to be my best time to learn something new and indeed this was my best time at SAPS.”

She appealed to the station management to continue working closely with the CPF and the residents of Alexandra in a fight against stubborn crimes like gender-based violence in the area. “The best recipe in a fight against crime is to work with our community members.

“I hope you will continue working together to reach the community through awareness campaigns.”

She thanked the local Community Policing Forum (CPF) and Johannesburg North Cluster for their support and good working relationship she had with them.

The chairperson of CPF Sector 1, Christopher Mabunda, lauded Kuboni for her efforts in ensuring that the community was always part of the plans to fight crime in the area.

Khuboni, who was previously at Norwood Police Station as acting commander; Rosebank Police Station as a leader of the Social Crime Unit and at Jeppe and Dobsonville police stations, headed to Roodepoort Police Station on 8 April as station commander.
