Alexandra Regional Magistrate Court postpones the inferno case of two parents whose children perished in a fire

ALEXANDRA – Bail conditions remain unchanged for inferno Alex mothers.

The Alexandra Regional Magistrate Court has once again postponed the case of two Alex mothers accused of negligence and culpable homicide in order to give the defence team enough time to prepare for the trial.

Looking calm and contained Bongiwe Ngubeni and Nelisiwe Fihlani briefly appeared in courtroom three on 26 February to hear their fate. The pair will appear again in the same court on 5 March.

This was after their four children, aged between two and seven, perished in a fire on 16 September last year. It was alleged that the pair left Nhlanhla Ngubeni (7), Sandile Ngubeni (4), Amukelani Ngubeni (2) and Mbalenhle Fihlani (5) under the care a 14-year-old to enjoy themselves overnight in one of the local taverns.

The magistrate told the accused that the bail condition, that they do not talk a 14-year-old survivor regarding the incident, remains unchanged and should be adhered to.
