The Alexandra Magistrates’ Court remanded two Lesotho nationals in custody pending further investigation for alleged attempted murder and robbery.
Their victim, also from Lesotho and known to the accused, recovered at a hospital from injuries from the incident which occurred in Sunninghill at night in November last year.
The accused allegedly assaulted the victim after accusing him of wasting money and he fled into a nearby restaurant for safety. A security guard seemingly told them to leave the premises despite his plead for help against the two who had followed him inside and claimed that he was their wasteful child. They took the victim to a nearby stream where he was further assaulted, poured with water, fell unconscious and was robbed of R1 740 in cash and a cell phone. When he recovered, he went to a nearby taxi rank where an ambulance summoned by a guard took him to a hospital. The two attackers were arrested.
