Music star celebrates his birthday with children of Refilwe Legae Home

ALEXANDRA – Mbongeni 'Kadaf' Magubane urged musicians and others who have more than enough to extend a helping hand.

The founder of Refilwe Legae Home, Tshidi Seruee could not hold her tears of joy when kwaito star Mbongeni Magubane known as ‘Kadaf’ pledged to donate a car to the children’s home.

The home that is located in Phase 2 Ext Alexandra, takes care of almost 20 children – some of them are orphans and those abandoned by parents because of their disabilities.

Magubane who was celebrating his 33rd birthday this year said he has been celebrating his birthday with children of Refilwe Legae Home since 2015. “I’ve been celebrating my birthdays with the children for four consecutive years now. Giving back to the community is something I’m very passionate about. I don’t come here only on my birthdays, I come here almost every quarter to check if they are not in need of something.”

He said after realising that Seruee was struggling with transporting children they decided with his team to donate a car that will be used to transport children to school and other places. He also challenged his colleagues in the music industry to consider giving back to the community rather than spending on expensive cars and parties.

Seruee said she knew that Kadaf and his team will visit the children as they always do when it’s his birthday but she was not expecting a car gift.

“I knew that Kadaf was coming as he always does but I wasn’t expecting such a surprise. Every time I’m drowning, I just give him a call and he comes to my rescue.”
