ALEXANDRA – Thinking that it was his uncle, the victim opened the door and the three who were armed walked in.

A victim who was robbed at night at his home in Alex assisted in the arrest of one of the perpetrators who had earlier assaulted his uncle.

The accomplices are at large.

Thapelo Masasanye (26) and his accomplices assaulted and threatened to stab the uncle in the daytime on 25 November. At about midnight, he and two others knocked on the victim’s door. They threatened to beat him if he refused to go along with them. They walked to a tavern where one of them went inside while the other two remained outside guarding him.

Eventually, the three let him go and he assisted to identify Masasanye to the police leading to his arrest and admission to the crime. He awaits sentencing by the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court for robbery and kidnapping.
