Alex man nabbed minutes after a carjacking

ALEXANDRA – The Gauteng Traffic Police arrested one suspect following a carjacking in Alexandra, his accomplice fled the scene and is still at large.

 

Gauteng Traffic Police have arrested a 23-year-old man minutes after he and an accomplice committed a carjacking in Alexandra.

The man has been charged with carjacking and possession of an unlicensed firearm and was remanded in custody to appear again at the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court soon.

According to Captain Granville Meyer of the Sandton police, the incident occurred in Alexandra on 19 November when the suspect and another accomplice allegedly robbed the driver of a delivery vehicle at gunpoint and ordered him to drive off.

The vehicle was stopped by Gauteng Traffic Police not far from the scene and the suspect was arrested with an unlicensed firearm. The other suspect fled the scene on foot and is still at large. The vehicle was recovered undamaged.
