Balfour’s Croesus Ladies make mincemeat of Rosina in Sasol Women’s League

BALFOUR -– The chase is on as Croesus ladies hammer Rosina 6–0 at Northview High School.

Croesus Ladies kept their Sasol Women’s League title hopes alive when they made a meal of bottom-of-the-log outfit Rosina Sedibane Modiba Sports School, hitting them for six with no reply.

The win, at Croesus’ home ground Northview High School, means the side now has accumulated 58 points from 22 games and are still in the chase. Croesus are level on points and jointly hold the second spot with Bedfordview-based JVW Ladies owned by Banyana Banyana skipper Janine van Wyk.

Croesus dominated the game from the word go and made their intentions clear when they missed two clear-cut chances before Alex girl and former Bluebirds Ladies midfielder Nthabiseng Ramasokotla latched onto a cross and made no mistake.

Ramasokotla had another opportunity two minutes later to increase her side’s lead and get her brace but misdirected her header and the team settled for a 1–0 scoreline at halftime.

Croesus started the second stanza where they left off and sought to increase their scoreline but the defensive wall of Rosina proved too solid to break down. It took the hard running livewire of Croesus, Lerato Ruele to finally crack open the solid wall of Rosina when she thundered a shot that left the Rosina keeper bamboozled.

Florence Ranyawa added a third goal before Ruele got her brace, making the score 4–0 as the game inched towards the final stage. A clearance blunder by one of the defenders of Rosina gifted Croesus their fifth.

Mary Ntsweng hammered the final nail in the Rosina coffin when she got Croesus’ sixth goal in referee’s optional time.

Croesus coach Daniel Tshidi, well aware of the need for more goals to get a superior goal difference in their second spot tie with JVW, said he had instructed his players to ensure they got a high scoreline.

“I even reminded them during the halftime break that we need more goals if we’re to overtake JVW and I am glad my players listened and obeyed the instruction.

“I am well aware that the goal difference will play a major role in deciding the destination of this league, hence I have been urging the girls to get more goals,” Tshidi said.

Ramasokotla was over the moon with her superb opening strike and said it gave her the confidence to go forward in the hope of finding and piling up those goals.
