Two Alexandra-based sculptors, Nelson Moyo and Kenny Moyo, are on a mission to help local young stars to learn and understand the significance of doing sculpting.
Nelson (40) and Kenny (38) from Makhokhoba township in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, have been sculpting for more than 20 years now. The pair studied art at KwaMzilikazi College and moved to South Africa in the late 90s.

In 2005 they started showcasing and exhibiting their work in Thusong Art Centre and later moved to Ihlokomeleng old age home.
With their rich experience in sculpting, the Moyo brothers offer free art classes to the young stars of Alexandra from the age of 10 every day after school hours and on Saturdays at Ihlokomeleng old age home.
“Our organisation is called Mzala Art. We help young ones from Alexandra to learn how to sculpt and instil the love of art in their hearts at an early age. Our classes are free and we cater to children from the age of 10 upward,” said Kenny.

Mzala Art brothers, as they are affectionally known by the local community, sell their work in different flea markets around Johannesburg and supply Roland’s Yard art store in Sandton and Art Africa in Parkview.
