Alexandra Hospice and Rehabilitation Centre gets heated up

ALEXANDRA – Hospice patients will have a memorable warm winter

Patients at Alexandra Hospice and Rehabilitation Centre will have a memorable winter season this year.

This after receiving a befitting donation of hampers from Investec Bank and Rak Events staff members. Hospice staff member Prudence Siluma said all 30 patients aged between 25 and 80 received the hampers containing blankets to cover their feet while on wheelchairs, toiletries for their health needs and muffins for tea and drinks with the benefactors.

“They also installed wall heaters in all wards and offices to enhance warmth for all of us 24/7,”Siluma said.

She added that some patients have been under their care for years. “They were brought in by relatives with no means to support them or worried about their safety while at work.”

She said many of them require special attention to ensure they don’t default on medication. The donation she said was most special and uplifting to those who don’t receive visitors and came without toiletries.

The centre situated in old school buildings on 2nd Avenue relies on donations to provide the free services.
