Victim recovers items from female robber

ALEXANDRA – Female ex-con gets three years for house robbery.

A woman was sentenced in the Alex Magistrates’ Court to three years imprisonment for housebreaking and theft.

Brenda Luhanga (28) of 4th Avenue, who has a 2015 conviction for theft for which she was charged R2 000 or four months in jail, broke into a 3rd Avenue home mid-morning on 27 March.

The homeowner had gone to work having locked and secured the house. She returned hours later after a strike at her work and found the accused next to her room with its door wide open.

Alongside the accused was a bag full of clothes and a washing basket filled with the victim’s toilet paper, appliances, plastic containers and more clothing.

The victim ran back to the gate, locked it and called her neighbours who restrained the perpetrator before the police arrived at the scene and arrested her.

She admitted to the charge leading to her conviction and sentencing on 30 May by Magistrate Renier Boshoff.
