Sithandiwe Disabled Care Centre receives donations

ALEX – Hollywoodbets Kempton Park donates furniture and appliances to Sithandiwe Disabled Care Centre.

Sithandiwe Disabled Care Centre is a charity organisation that helps disabled children from Alexandra and Tembisa by providing daycare as well as a residential facility.

The care centre first opened its doors in 2006 when Thandi Ndhlovu, a physically disabled woman who champions the rights of those living with disabilities, saw the need for such an organisation.

The organisation teaches those in their care various skills including sewing and beadwork. They care for children between the ages of three and 18 who have various disabilities.

Members of Hollywoodbets Kempton Park visited Sithandiwe to deliver a gas stove, home theatre system, freezer, four children’s tables, 20 children’s chairs and four child-size wheelchairs.

Zandile Ndhlovu, Sithandiwe’s centre manager said she was thankful for the company’s generosity.

“We are grateful for the donation. Our children will now have chairs to sit on as well as wheelchairs. We will now be able to take them around outside the centre for a walk. We will also be able to buy more meat and keep it in our new freezer. We always had only one freezer for 40 children so this is really great,” Ndhlovu said.
