Northrand finally comes to play

ALEXANDRA - After years of resistance, the Northrand has finally agreed to join the game in the Alexandra Northrand local Football Association.

The Northrand part of the Alexandra Northrand Local Football Association has finally decided to play ball after years of dragging their feet on being part of the association as prescribed by the football mother body, the South African Football Association (Safa).

This was disclosed by the association’s secretary general Mafika Morajane when quizzed by Alex News on the absence of the Northrand Local Football Association in the recent elections, which were held on 26 November and others before then.

“I am happy to say Northrand has finally decided to come to play, and they will be fully joining our league activities as of the coming season of 2018,” Morajane said.

But he pointed out that Northrand had suggested they would like to play as a stream of the association, which he said was allowed under the Safa constitution and that of theirs, which aligns to the football mother body.

“If there are enough clubs in the areas to warrant the establishment of a viable stream league, I don’t see why that cannot be allowed to function,” he said.

Among the areas covered by the Northrand association are suburbs such as Bramley, Norwood, Balfour Park, Highlands North, Sandringham, Bramley View, Orange Grove, Glenhazel, Northview, Linksfield, Fairmont and Lyndhurst, to name a few.

Alex News is trying to make contact with Jorge Patricio, who is said to be involved with the Northrand association to hear their views.
