ALEXANDRA – Washed-out final will now be held on 1 December.

The washed-out Alexandra Northrand Local Football Association Year-End juniors’ final on 25 November will now be held on 1 December.

This was announced by the secretary general of the association, Mafika Morajane who said the much anticipated final between Alex Real Madrid and United Stars in the U13 division had been rescheduled for 11am at the Number 3 Square Grounds.

Morajane added that the situation was a bit tricky for them as they tried to find an opening in their tight schedule to fit in the rained-out final.

“We have the seniors final of the same tournament coming up, and another Year-End Tournament of the Alex Master Soccer League currently in its preliminaries, including various divisional league matches to complete,” he said.

On their way to the final, Real Madrid walloped Batlokwa 6–0 in one of the most one-sided games of the tournament.

Before that they beat Black Poison 5–0 in the last 16 and Super Stars 10–0 in the quarterfinals. They have won the tournament a record three times.

“Now we’re in line to defend the replacement trophy for four years in a row,” said Madrid’s seasoned coach Marks ‘Mocks’ Maseko.

“Those who know the history of Real Madrid in Alex will tell you the milestones we have accomplished over the years with this club. I am ready to return it to its glory days again. We won the Maimane Alfred Phiri Games last year, the Spring Tournament in the same year and that year’s Year-End Tournament.

“We now want to repeat that feat again, starting with the current Year-End Tournament and moving into the coming season’s cup competitions.”

United Stars coach Bathobele Makubalo said he was equally ready for a thrilling encounter. “I can tell you now we’re going to beat him [Maseko] 1–0 in the final come Friday,” he said. “I am happy to meet him in the final as my team thoroughly knows his style of play and we shall match him man for man.”

Makubalo’s team disposed of league rivals, LRC FC 6–5 on sudden death penalties after the teams were level at 2–2 in regulation time and tied at 4–4 after penalty kicks.
