#ICYMI: Young talents unleashed in Alex

ALEXANDRA - Children from Kgololo Academy on 10th Avenue kept the crowd entertained at a talent show held at the school.

Children of Kgololo Academy unleashed their talents at the academy’s talent show, Kgololo Academy’s Got Talent.

Principal of the school, Waahida Tolbert-Mbatha said she was blown away by the youngsters’ performances.

“It is amazing to see how seriously they took this competition and how confident they were. This means that they have the potential to succeed in life,” Tolbert-Mbatha said.

She said the competition aimed to show the young ones that not winning in something does not mean that they should give up in their dreams, but to work harder in making sure that they come up to the top.

One of the judges, Robyne Moody, said the talent show was heartwarming and inspiring.

“It is inspiring to see teachers trying to instil confidence in young people because they are our future leaders,” Moody said.

“We live in a society that has a lot of barriers that prevent us from going after our dreams. At one point I wanted to cry because this is a society where children are not really encouraged to do much.”

The winner of Kgololo Academy’s Got Talent went to seven-year-old Sandile Masomia.

His mother Cynthia said, “I feel so overwhelmed about him winning because I know how much he loves dancing. He dances all the time and it gets annoying at times.”

She said every child that took part in the competition was a winner in their own right.

“To stand in front of people you do not know and perform for them takes a lot of courage, not a lot of children would do that.”
