Mourning brother investigated after assaulting woman

ALEXANDRA – Suspect threatens prospective lovers of deceased brother's girlfriend.

A man still mourning his brother who died two months ago is under investigation for assaulting a sister of the deceased’s girlfriend and for threatening the girlfriend.

Police spokesperson Captain Allie Kodisang said the incident occurred at the girlfriend’s home in Rasta Village, Extension 7 on 27 September. The sisters were at the Rasta Village home when the suspect came and asked the girlfriend where she was the previous day and allegedly accused her of coming home late on previous occasions after the death of his brother. When the sister responded that they had been at their sick father’s 14th Avenue home, the suspect slapped her in the face. The girlfriend asked him to stop as the sister had a 3-month-old baby in her arms.

Instead, he allegedly took a sjambok and beat the sister with it while accusing her of taking his late brother’s girlfriend to other boyfriends. He apparently also threatened to kill any man who dated the girlfriend.

The sister and her baby were allegedly left bleeding.
