Female Sowetan to admit to fraud

ALEXANDRA – Soweto woman awaits sentencing for bank fraud.

A Soweto woman who wants to plead guilty for fraud had her case postponed by Alex Magistrates’ Court pending sentencing.

Precious Ximba (32) was arrested at a Sandton ABSA bank on 7 March and was out on bail. She appeared before Magistrate Renier Boshoff on 8 September.

Ximba was arrested while attempting to withdraw R350 000 from R415 000 which was wrongfully deposited from someone’s account into hers. This after she had withdrawn various small amounts on earlier occasions seemingly to test if she would be detected.

On the day, Ximba went to the bank accompanied by a man and was told to wait as they processed her withdrawal request. The bank called the defrauded account holder who on arrival declined knowing her or making any transfer to her account.

Police were called and arrested her, however, the companion had vanished while the bank waited for the victim to arrive.Details: 10111.
